Transfer2Transfer Mentoring Program: UNC Greensboro has partnered with Mentor Collective to provide peer mentoring for first-year transfer students. First-year transfer students are paired with a volunteer transfer student mentor who is at least in their second year at UNCG. More than one third of UNCG’s undergraduate population began their academic career at another institution. This program provides a source of connection, support, and point of contact for students as they transition to academic life at UNC Greensboro.
First year and transfer applicants are automatically considered for a number of scholarship opportunities based on merit and financial need. Awards range in value and duration, including four-year, full-tuition scholarships.
With over 250 student organizations, 17 D1 athletic programs, and a top Honors College, there is plenty to do at UNCG. 25 on-campus residence halls, ranging from historic, traditional halls to modern, apartment-styles buildings. Information on applying for housing can be found here.

While the following programs do not guarantee admission, Verto participants are able to apply for holistic review:
- Nursing: There are additional requirements, and high school performance will be considered regardless of the number of college credits earned.
- Music: an audition will be required.
- Dance: audition will be required.
- Interior Architecture This is a longer program with limited spots and a secondary application process
If you meet high school requirements, you can apply for review with only one semester abroad with Verto.
The UNC system mandates the minimum high school courses required for admission to N.C. public universities with less than 24 college credits. Incoming students must have completed:
- English: 4 units (emphasis on grammar, composition, and literature).
- Math: 4 units (including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and one approved course beyond Algebra II).
- Science: 3 units (including at least one unit in life or biological science, at least one unit in physical science, and at least one lab course).
- Social science: 2 units (must include one unit of U.S. history and one unit in history, economics, sociology, or civics).
- Two additional academic courses from English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, or computer science.

As a transfer student, you would still be eligible for the Direct Transfer Guarantee, however your eligibility would be based on your cumulative GPA, not only from your time abroad.
UNCG accepts GED certificates as proof of high school graduation for freshman and transfer applicants with fewer than 24 credit hours, and these can be submitted online. For homeschooled students, while there are no special admission requirements, they may consider providing additional materials—such as an essay and a letter of recommendation from a non-family member—to give the admissions team a clearer understanding of their academic background.
Yes, as an international student you would still be eligible for the Direct Transfer Guarantee, as long as you meet the English Language Proficiency requirements listed here.

Once you arrive to your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to UNCG. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.
